It crystallizes in the form of masses, squares, or small prismatic, and tiny tabular crystals. This mineral is usually golden orange or yellow. But can be found as blue, red, grey, white, and even colorless.<\/p><p>The color hues come from tiny traces of chromium within the crystal. Wulfenite forms in heavily oxidized lead deposits. It can be found in association with a number of other minerals such as <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/pyromorphite\">Pyromorphite<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/mimetite\">Mimetite<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/hemimorphite\">Hemimorphite<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/smithsonite\">Smithsonite<\/a>.<\/p><p>The first discovery of this mineral came in 1845 by W. Haidinger in Carinthia, Austria. He named it in honor of Austrian mineralogist Franz Xavier von Wulfen. Who had previously written about the crystals in the lead deposits of Carinthia.<\/p><p>The Red Cloud Mine in Arizona (USA) has pulled out some of the finest quality crystals of Wulfenite the world has ever seen. Other notable localities include the Los Lamentos mines in Mexico, the Mount Peca mines in Slovenia.
