It is formed during the oxidization of copper veins; specifically in an environment dry and containing little to no moisture.<\/p><p>It\u2019s commonly seen in association with other <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/copper\">Copper <\/a>-bearing minerals such as <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/malachite\">Malachite<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/azurite\">Azurite <\/a>(brochantite can pseudomorph over both these minerals and assume its shape), <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/shattuckite\">Shattuckite<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/chrysocolla\">Chrysocolla<\/a>, and even <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/dioptase\">Dioptase<\/a>.<\/p><p>Brochantite can be found in many forms such as masses, plates &amp; crusts, and skinny slender rods (much like <a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/crocoite\">Crocoite<\/a>).<\/p><p>The color can be absolutely breathtaking as well, with deep-<a href=\"https:\/\/thecrystalcouncil.com\/crystals\/emerald\">Emerald <\/a>green Brochanitite being the rarest and most desirable.<\/p><p>This mineral was first described back in 1824 by Armand Levy. He chose to name it after the famed French mineralogist and geologist, Andr\u00e9-Jean-Fran\u00e7ois-Marie Brochant de Villiers. Brochantite can be found all around the world.
