Science & Origin of Black Banded Onyx<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Black Banded Onyx: A variety of Chalcedony. It crystallizes in massive formations. The color is usually black with white, brown, and grey striations; or the inverse, the matrix is white or grey with black and brown banding patterns throughout the stone.<\/p>\n

The most abundant locality of this stone is found throughout the country of India, although a new deposit was recently found in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

This deposit also contains the very popular Pink Banded Onyx<\/a> that has been sold throughout the market in numerous different shapes and sizes.<\/p>\n

Both Black Banded Onyx and Pink Banded Onyx have great color patterns and are popular materials to be carved and polished.<\/p>\n

These stones have been commonly hoarded by artists and miners. So, acquiring raw material that is untouched and comes directly from Mother Earth has been very challenging.<\/p>\n
