Science & Origin of Auraichalcite<\/strong><\/h2>\nAurichalcite: A zinc and copper carbonate mineral. It crystallizes in the form of tiny needles, crusts, druzy, botryoidal, tabular, and prismatic crystals.<\/p>\n
This mineral is a secondary mineral found in oxidized Zinc and Copper deposits. When found, this crystal is an indication of other copper and zinc minerals nearby. These are Hemimorphite, Smithsonite, Malachite, Chrysocolla, Azurite, Adamite, and Rosasite.<\/p>\n
Its color comes from impurities of copper and can range from pale green to bright blue. Aurichalcite is rare, but can be found all over the world. It is in important localities in France, Scotland, the U.K, Italy, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Iran, Namibia, Congo, and the U.S.<\/p>\n
Aurichalcite was discovered in 1839 by T. Bottger, and was named after the Greek word for \u201cmountain copper\u201d.<\/p>\n
This was in reference to Orichalcum, an ancient metal believed to have been mined throughout Atlantis, and was nearly as valuable as gold.<\/p>\n
Plato, the famous Greek philosopher, wrote in one of his later works known as \u201cCritias\u201d, the importance and significance of Orichalcum to the Atlantean people.<\/p>\n
He spoke of the Temple of Poseidon, the most sacred citadel in all of Atlantis having Orichalcum on the floors, walls, and pillars, with the roof covered in a combination of Gold, Platinum, and Orichalcum.<\/p>\n
